Who is Alizee Jocotey?
She was born Alizee Jacotey on the island of Corsica. Singing was secondary to the little girl as she loved to dance and is proficient in many different styles. When she was only fifteen she won a talent contest and she was recognized as a beautiful young newcomer who could go far with her outstanding voice. Alizee recorded her first album, Gourmandises, to the rich acclaim of the world music crowd, and was an instant hit among the French. That album catapulted her into the center of music where she was able to use her talent and beauty as a jumping off place for continued success. In 2001 she was the most successful singer in France and had a number one hit with Moi…Lolita which was number one in many countries.
The seductive Alizee continued her success with a second album, Mes Courants Electriques, which came out in 2003. That same year she was married to French singer Jeremy Chatelain much to the consternation of her many male fans. Thus, at the age of eighteen she was already a prominent and recognized singing talent with two platinum albums and was married to a popular male singer. Life could not get any better for the fortunate Alizee.
The Alizee fanpage also sets her apart because she decided to take a few years off after she was married and had a little girl, Annily, in 2005. In 2007 she resumed her singing career with her new album Psychedelices. After the four year hiatus from the spot light Alizee wanted that first release to be all her, so she dumped her former producer and made the album by herself. She collaborated with several other French singers (including her husband) on some of the tracks, and was able to quickly climb back up the international music charts with her first release, Mademoiselle Juliette. This single was released in September, 2007 to gauge what the response would be to her coming album. After the single rose to number 16 on the charts, she knew that her fans were still out there and waiting for her new songs. She released the second single, Fifty-Sixty, officially in February of 2008. The album has been a great success and has lead to tours in both 2008 and 2009.
Sexy Alizee has come a long way in a short period of time. Although she is not extremely well known in the United States, it would be worth the time to check out some of her tracks.
